The motorhome was converted from a 1989 NISSAN RA53TE which was a 57-seat luxury coach imported from Japan - converted from July 2006 until being registered in August 2012 - It is powered by a 17 litre non turbocharged NISSAN RF8 V8 diesel engine through a six speed Eaton manual gearbox. Brakes are drum on all wheels powered by air over hydraulics.
Modifications include:- Raising the roof 400mm with awning inserts to maintain 2.5m width restrictions - Relocating engine exhaust after muffler, to vent above roof line - Modifying engine air inlet to source air from above roofline - Modifying front entry to allow passenger seat to be beside driver - Filling center aisle with stainless steel tanks holding 300 liters of fresh water and creating a flat floor. -Removing Bus wet cell batteries and frame and replaced with a LifePo4 pack 56 3.3v cells in 8S to provide 28vdc and 700AH - Fitting a 6KVA generator - Relocating diesel fuel tank to center of motorhome and providing refilling access from both sides. - Installed 12 x 250W solar panels on bus and trailer - The motorhome weighs about 12.5 tons tare with minimal fuel and no water - GVM of 15990Kg - Tows a 6m x 2.5m triple axle fully braked and airconditioned trailer which is about 1250Kg tare - The motorhome and trailer combination is 19 meters long.
